It’s finally here – publication day!
I’ve been dreaming about this day since I was a little girl and today’s the day that my debut novel hits the (virtual) shelves.
The Beach is a psychological thriller which features many of the places we visited on our backpacking trip. My characters travel through Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. There are also scenes set in the Yorkshire Dales.
The process of getting a book written and published is a lengthy one. I already had the first draft written before we went travelling but it went through several drafts before finally landing a publisher.
My novel was picked up through open submissions (I don’t have an agent) by the HarperCollins digital imprint, Killer Reads, which has now merged into One More Chapter.
I secured the deal during the third leg of my backpacking trip in March 2019. I had to run around Chiang Mai trying to find an internet café so that I could print out and sign the contract! My author photo was taken by my husband and I’m wearing the last bit of make-up I had with me. It was taken in a hotel in Pai and I got a lot of funny looks from the other guests as I posed for it.
The ebook is now available on Amazon and will be out as a paperback in May 2020.
